Kapok - Silk of Cotton

Kapok (Kay-pok) also known as Java Cotton or Silk Cotton, is a naturally occurring fibre similar to cotton produced by the nuts/ fruit of the Ceiba tree.

A Deciduous tree that is native to Latina America & Africa but introduced to Asia, in places like Java Indonesia where Kapok used by MUJI is cultivated.

Kapok trees are tough, requiring little to no human intervention in order for it to grow, meaning we can grow and produce Kapok using just sunlight & rain, Nature's blessings rather than the addition pesticides, fertilisers and other chemical interventions often used in other common and popular fibres.

At MUJI we strive to maintain the environment our Kapok trees grow in, as close to nature's as possible by planting & spacing them in 5 metre intervals, ensuring ample room to grow into fully matured trees.

Introducing our new kid's Kapok for 24SS along with men's and women's range in-store and online.
